1. General Disclaimer

All content on HomeCalc — including calculators, reference articles, tables, comparisons, and examples — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It reflects publicly available data, national averages, and simplified formulas, and is not tailored to any individual's specific financial, legal, tax, or construction situation. Use it as a starting point for your research, not as the sole basis for any decision.

2. No Financial Advice

Content related to mortgages, refinancing, HELOCs, property taxes, homeowners insurance, closing costs, investment returns, and any comparable financial topic is not financial advice. HomeCalc is not a licensed lender, broker, financial advisor, or fiduciary. Loan pricing, credit-score impacts, insurance premiums, and investment returns depend on facts about you that we do not collect. Consult a licensed financial professional, lender, or fee-only financial advisor before making a financial decision.

3. No Legal Advice

Content related to property-tax assessments, closing procedures, HOA rules, easements, permitting, contractor agreements, and comparable topics is not legal advice. Real-estate and property law varies substantially by state, county, and municipality. Consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction for advice about your specific situation.

4. No Tax Advice

Despite the presence of a "Taxes" category and property-tax reference material, nothing on HomeCalc is tax advice. Effective tax rates, deductions, credits, exemptions, and rules change annually and vary by state and locality. Consult a licensed CPA, enrolled agent, or tax attorney for advice about your specific tax situation.

5. No Construction or Engineering Advice

Content related to roofing, decking, siding, concrete, HVAC sizing, insulation, structural repairs, and other physical improvements is not construction or engineering advice. Building codes, permit requirements, structural loads, and safety practices vary by jurisdiction and by the specific conditions of your property. Hire a licensed contractor, engineer, or architect before beginning any work whose failure could cause injury, property damage, or code violations.

6. Estimates Only

Every numerical output on HomeCalc is an estimate. Calculators use national averages, published cost databases, industry rules of thumb, and simplified formulas. Real-world numbers differ because of local labor rates, material availability, credit scores, lender fees, appraisal results, climate zones, home condition, and dozens of other factors no general-purpose calculator can capture. Treat HomeCalc outputs as ballpark ranges to orient your thinking, not as binding quotes.

7. Third-Party Content

The Site may contain links to third-party websites for the reader's convenience. HomeCalc does not endorse and is not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or content of any linked site. Third-party trademarks, product names, and company names appearing on the Site are the property of their respective owners.

8. Advertising Disclosure

HomeCalc is supported by advertising delivered through Google AdSense. Ads shown on the Site are selected by Google, not by HomeCalc, and appear alongside — but are entirely separate from — our editorial content. HomeCalc does not currently have affiliate relationships with any lender, contractor, or product manufacturer; if that changes, we will disclose it clearly. Clicking an ad may generate revenue for HomeCalc, but this does not influence which calculators we build, what reference articles we publish, or the values our calculators compute.

9. Accuracy and Updates

We review our data annually and update it more frequently when rates, rules, or industry benchmarks shift materially. Even so, content on the Site may be out of date at the moment you read it. Cross-check any figure that will drive a large decision against an authoritative primary source (your lender's Loan Estimate, your county assessor's website, your contractor's written bid, or the most recent government or industry publication).

10. Use at Your Own Risk

Your use of HomeCalc is at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, HomeCalc disclaims all liability for any loss or damage arising from reliance on Site content. See our Terms of Service for the full limitation-of-liability language.
